How Finances Are Applied Within The Club

Youth soccer programs often have fees associated with them for several reasons. Below is a breakdown of how we allocate and utilize all the funds we receive.

It’s important to note that the specific breakdown of fees and the amount charged can vary significantly from one program to another. Some programs may be more affordable or even free, while others in more affluent areas may have higher fees to support additional amenities and services.

Youth soccer programs often aim to strike a balance between covering their costs and ensuring access to the sport for a diverse range of participants.

Operating Costs

Running a soccer program involves various expenses, such as field rentals, equipment (e.g., balls, goals, cones, uniforms), insurance, and administrative costs. Fees help cover these operational expenses.

Coaching

Many youth soccer programs hire qualified coaches to provide proper training and guidance to young players. These coaches need to be compensated for their time and expertise.

Facility Maintenance

Soccer programs often use local fields and facilities, which require maintenance and upkeep. Part of the fees may go towards ensuring the playing surfaces are safe and well-maintained.

Safety and Insurance

Ensuring the safety of young players is a priority. Programs may use a portion of the fees to purchase insurance coverage in case of injuries or accidents during practice or games.

League Fees

If the youth soccer program is part of a larger league or organization, there may be fees associated with participation in these leagues, which can contribute to the overall program cost.

Uniform and Equipment

Soccer players need uniforms, footwear, and equipment to participate. The cost of purchasing and maintaining these items may be included in the program fees.

Player Development

Many programs invest in player development, which may involve hiring trainers or attending clinics and workshops to enhance the skills of both players and coaches.

Administration

Running a youth soccer program requires administrative work, such as registration, scheduling, and communication. Fees help cover the salaries and operational costs of the administrative staff.

Financial Aid

Some programs offer scholarships or financial aid to families who cannot afford the full program fees. The fees paid by others can help support these initiatives.

Marketing and Outreach

Programs may need to invest in marketing and outreach efforts to attract participants and sponsors, which can be funded through program fees.

SL United YSC - Female Youth Soccer Player Heading

Now for the individual player, there is gear required that you will need to procure. This gear is important to mitigate the risk of injuries during gameplay. Soccer involves a significant amount of physical activity, including running, kicking, and sometimes physical contact between players. The gear helps in various ways:

  • Protection
  • Prevention
  • Support

By using safety gear, leagues and organizers aim to provide a safer environment for young players, reducing the likelihood and severity of injuries while promoting the overall health and well-being of the participants.

    • Soccer Cleats – $20+
      • Keep in mind that our #1 goal is to build out own indoor field. So when that appens, the type of cleat will be different. If you’re primarily playing indoor soccer opt for a cleat that has a flat rubber sole. It will give you the proper traction on the floor’s surface. If playing outside or on artificial turf opt for the cleats that have studs on the base of the sole to dig into the turf for appropriate traction, balance, and stability.
    • Shin Guards – $5+
      • Shin guards are the only required piece of protection in soccer. They are essential for any game and protect you from kicks, hard shots, and fouls. When buying them, you want to look for two things: a large protection area and comfort while running.
    • Goal Keeper Gloves – $10+
      • Buying goalie glove cuts can be straightforward or difficult, depending on the player’s needs. A good way to find the best goalie gloves for your kid would be for them to try on gloves with different cuts and see which one fits best. If you can’t buy one in-store, choose a more balanced option such as the roll finger cut.

        • Water Bottle – $1+
          • It’s important to remember that Players bodies need water all year round – even when the temperatures drop. Werecommend a stainless steel drink bottle instead of disposable water bottles. Not only is this eco-friendly, the water containers can hold ice and a lot more water. (WRITE YOUR CHILD NAME ON IT)
        • Size-Appropiate Soccer Ball- $10+
          • Soccer ball size corresponds to player age, but ball size for youth soccer leagues can differ by location and league standards. In general, here are the appropriate sizes for age groups:

            • Size 5 – Adults (U12+), ages 13+ | 27-28 in. (68-70 cm
            • Size 4 – Youth (U8-U12), ages 8-12 | 25-26 in. (63.5-66 cm)
            • Size 3 – Junior (U5-U8), ages < 8 | 23-24 in. (58.5-61 cm)
            • Size 1 – Skills training, all ages | 18-20 in. (46-51 cm)
